Usually just the active document I'm working on; my Oxford Superlex dictionary; the BBC radio channel that I happen to be listening to as I work (right now, R2 with Ken Bruce) and Google. My home page is IATE so I often forget that it's there...
Skype pops up when someone tries to contact me but I don't count that since it runs in the background...
But really, who's counting?. They say the less tabs you have open the better the PC works so I stick to these basic guidelines...

It all depends on what I am doing. Try to keep them to a minimum though
The document.
A temp. Word document if I'm translating Powerpoint or Excel with Wordfast.
A dictionary.
The folder I started the document from.
My e-mail program.
An internet browser with 1-4 tabs with various dictionaries, google etc. depending on the project.
My main accounting Excel spreadsheet unless it's a big job that I neither started nor will end today.

I have 2 systems and 3 LCDs linked for use. Word or whatever else I'm typing into, the original document in another window, reference dictionaries, a internet radio window, Skype/IM for contacts, e-mail in another, and I have a few chat windows open to IRC.

Usually only 3-4 windows (document, translation, online dictionaries (many tabs on 1 window), if necessary a terminologieliste)
However, the dictionaries can be up to 11 tabs.
And sometimes there are as many as 3 TL open.
And then there's the across program that only runs on the PC, and which is the only program I run on the PC anyway... | | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: How many windows/tabs do you usually have open on your desktop while working? | Draftsmith | Edit Translations Faster With Affordable AI You Can Trust
