When I've done something worth adding Dec 18, 2012

Or, I might remove or add specific sections to make it more relevant to a new customer.

After all, I don't want my CV to read like a Yellow Pages. I want it to be immediately useful to new customers -- if I really have to supply it to them, that is.

After every interpretation Dec 18, 2012

After every interpretation I add the hours to my CV. It's for me too, that way I can see how many hours I have clocked up.

I really only edit it than add anything and if I add anything worthwhile, then I get rid of older stuff in it.

I'm afraid that particular horse has bolted. In fact, I've been thinking about removing most if not all of my CV from the site, but since I let my membership lapse I get fewer nuisance approaches from pushy, cheapskate outsourcers anyway, so for the moment I'm not bothered.

Never really Dec 18, 2012

Or only when an agency asks for it. I wonder when they'll let us ditch them altogether, since they're the only ones still insisting on them. With personal websites and millions of other profiles, freelancers do not need CVs.

Once a year Dec 18, 2012

I'm talking about my résumé that can be accessed through ProZ. This is what I send out to prospective clients, and it has a date at the top. It's one page, tighly packed, and there's not much room for extensive changes.

I have a long CV that's still a work in progress. When/if I ever get all the facts and dates squared away, I will post it on my website.

Whenever required. It is a key document and needs to be adapted to suit each occasion. A list of qualifications and experience can be provided to anyone but its relevance only becomes pertinent when account is taken of the purpose for which it is being supplied and the person or persons for whom it is intended.

Strange animal, the CV Dec 18, 2012

While everything on my CV is true and correct to the best of my knowledge, so help me God, I must confess that with observation of confidentialities and gradual directional changes in the work that I do, it seems to bear little resemblance to "the real me", now.

Perhaps one day if I am feeling particularly jaded or abstruse, I may well send as my CV this performance of Samuel Beckett's play, "Breath", even though I do not agree with the visual in this video. The sound (although not

Perhaps one day if I am feeling particularly jaded or abstruse, I may well send as my CV this performance of Samuel Beckett's play, "Breath", even though I do not agree with the visual in this video. The sound (although not the lighting) is more or less what the playwright intended.

When being asked Dec 18, 2012

Usually I update my CV only when a new client asks for it (which only summarizes my works anyway instead of a detailed listing) or when I've accomplished something out of the ordinary that's really worth mentioning. Other than that, I've no time to update it.
