I think it was a webinar on pharmaceutical translations over the course of the last year. It should have been a "Chemistry for Translators" course in Cambridge this weekend, but it was postponed due to the snow.

I don't recall, possibly never. Does training my Dragon count?
I learn something every time I do a translation job. Class or course? In translation? I learned by doing.

when I decided to start learning Italian, but I am with Marcus: I learn something new every time I do a translation!

The last courses I actually attended (in June and November) were about CAT tools, but I do go once or twice a year to one-day courses, typically in terminology, when the opportunity arises.
It's definitely worth the effort to meet colleagues and discuss the finer points of whatever the subject area is - it hones my tools.

I'm still trying to specialise, so I study Law on a very part-time basis.
What's more, I've taken up German this academic year, along with the rest of Spain. I really like it. I especially like honing my German accent.

I'm halfway through the British Horological Institute's technician course and thoroughly enjoying it.
So far I've managed to resist the temptation to start tinkering with the family's antique clocks, but it's only a matter of time... (groan!)

After that, I have another online law course planned.

That's when I finished my graduate studies in linguistics and translation. Since then, I've been learning on the job.

I voted "Other" because it is not clear to me what you mean by "your profession". Did you mean "translator" (my present profession) oder the degree I earned at a technical university as electrical engineer (my original profession)?

But, "in the near future" hopefully.
I would like to start a Diploma in Translation (DipTrans) course at the Chartered Institute of Linguists just to prove that I'm still "up to it."

My qualifications at uni were not in the field of translation. I just learnt it on the job, so to speak - the first couple of years won't have been that good. And since then, where does anyone find the TIME to go on courses?

No classes/courses related to translation of such, but I have just started a Postgraduate Diploma in Law course via distance learning this month, so I can better "unlock" the terminologies used in the English Common Law system.
