Во сеќавање на
Other. I am on vacation. Apr 26, 2013

Early spring has been peak time as usual, and I have been walking on my gums.

Right now I don't reply to anything, I sleep a lot and I am recharging my batteries. Life's good. I will be back in two weeks.

More of a lull Apr 26, 2013

I'd call it more of a lull, but it's fine with me.

I just finished two huge projects that had me working very long hours, 7 days a week. If this is famine, I'll take another helping.

In a feast period! Apr 26, 2013

After two very slow years, things seem to be picking up quite nicely and getting better. Is this crisis finally over or is this a "lull in a storm"?

Other Apr 26, 2013

I am currently in what I call a "Baby Bear's porridge" moment*.

My only gripe is that one client likes to send me texts translated by a non-native for me to revise, which I dislike intensely, as it takes me considerably longer to revise than it would to translate them. In fact, I'm drafting an email today telling him that I know someone else who will be only too happy to do it...

Apart from that, I'm happy with the amount and type of work I have in hand today, as well as what's pending between now and July.

(*From Goldilocks: "Ahhh, this porridge is just right," she said happily and she ate it all up.)

Famine Apr 26, 2013

I answered 'famine', but a lot depends on the timescale. Following two very lean years in 2011 and 2012, the first three months of 2013 were astonishingly busy, with me working at full capacity for most of the time. April also came in with a bang, but work began to slacken off in the second half of the month, and so far this week I have only had half an hour of work (despite being available full time) - hence the reply. Depends on how long a "period" is Apr 26, 2013

The last couple of days have been quiet, this month is slightly below average, the last 3-month period is above average.

In my accounts, I have a 12-month trend line and it went upwards in Feb. & Mar. (the first time this has happened in two consecutive months for a couple of years). I was hoping for a third consecutive month in April but it's not looking good at the moment. Unless something insane happens over the next few days...

Based on my 12-month trend line alone, I would say there is cause to hope that are coming to the end of the recession but it's not a robust recovery so far and the next few months will really tell the tale.

feast Apr 26, 2013

it was famine for a while, early in the year and late last year. Now i've had three very large projects one after the other and am right in the middle of one now. Will be working all weekend with a sunday night deadline...I wouldn't mind a day off next week to go for a badly needed bike ride!

Enjoy your Vacation, Nicole, Apr 26, 2013

I'm booked until Tues.
Then, either the Famine will start (and I will do yard work), or something else will show up.
And, having invoked the jinx of alternate plans, work is more likely. 8)
