Interpreting (80%) and translating (20%). But there are no side jobs and thankfully all is going well.

has been my only job for the last 30 years. I had plenty of other jobs before that (ranging from hotel management to PR and account executive) and in between raised 3 children as a single parent.

Translation is my only job - and the only job I ever really wanted.
Some English editing, and some translation-related editing and proofreading, but mostly, I translate.

which I have been doing for decades. I started translating Dutch to English about 8 years ago, after living in the Netherlands for 15 years. But yes, freelance editing/proofreading/translating: my only "job" (I like doing it, so it's fun--generally; kind of like word games).

My sole-proprietorship has two registered objects: translation services and teaching (IIRC only of adults). However, I don't teach language per se, and my translation services are limited to translation usually. Only very little revision, almost no monolingual proofing whatsoever. I occasionally teach Polish law in English or legal translation, which also goes through my sole-prop. I could also practice the law as a completely independent freelancer, but I last did in 2009, which was only resear... From 1965 to 1990, I had a full-time job but freelanced too. Since 1990 I have been freelancing full time, but the fact that I have a pension from my job means that I am not totally reliant on translating and so am in a better position to turn down what I don't want.

Aside from translating (proof-reading, editing, creative writing) I have another income, though not a "salary". For several decades I've been receiving a compensatory pension, so that the "work" for this type of income was done decades ago. A one-time job, so to speak.

Translation is currently my only working activity, although there was a transition period of a few years when I used to combine translation with TEFL.
Funnily enough, Just the other day I met a former colleague who is still teaching, who was quite surprised that I was able to make a living from translation without supplementing my income some other way. Commenting that she was fed up with TEFL and that she hadn't been paid since December for the courses she does, she lamented the f... What a good question. Translation is my only job now, though I think that I should have another. By the way, it is interesting to see the replies

Well, I translate every day, it might happen that sometimes I do some teaching (regularly paid), but this might happen every other year and just for 3/4 weeks... so I can say that translation is my only job.

back in Israel, I used to be a physician. and to do some translation as well.
these days - in Russia - most of my income comes from translation.
who knows, when the tables will turn once more?

I cannot do the work I did because of my illness and I receive half of my old salary for compensation. Translating gives me 4 times from what I earned in the military, with way less effort. I guess a good combination.
