This all depends on the translation, whether I had to rush in order to meet the delivery deadline or could take my time. In any case, relieved, content, happy, and sometimes stressed. But like Julian, definately ready to bill the customer.

Other - it's just business Feb 23, 2014

Why would I get into any kind of emotions over a job? It's what I do for a living. I translate, I deliver, and I move on to the next project.

Odd question...

It depends! Feb 23, 2014

No special feeling when it’s an everyday project: as I complete one task, I just move to the next one. The feeling is quite different in the case of large projects: I am glad to have the project done and feel pride and joy in having finished it. I always have a sense of relief but, curiously enough, there is also a sense of loss, too, of something that has been part of me for so long!

Ready for the next project... Feb 23, 2014

... once the last one has been logged and added to this month's invoice. Not sure I'd cope if my working life was the emotional rollercoaster this poll suggests!

It depends on the job... Feb 23, 2014

Some jobs are just routine, and the feeling is OK, next...

Or phew, now I can get on to something more interesting!

I like it best when I am satisifed.
But I mainly do small jobs, and delivering them is no big deal as a rule.

But I mainly do small jobs, and delivering them is no big deal as a rule.

Part of the time when I worked in house, I shared the coffee room and facilities with a group who worked on the really big projects, which could mean millions of words and take months, including conferences with the client about terminology, drafts, updates and changes, etc. etc. etc.

The last couple of weeks would be a marathon of tidying up loose ends, accommodating last-minute changes and proofreading everything an extra time.

When they finally finished and handed over a project like that, they celebrated with a group evening out and a long weekend or time off in lieu of their overtime...

Among other things the section I worked in did the one-liners and jobs that were too small to send out to freelancers.

So I could sometimes turn up at lunchtime, and tease my colleagues with a remark like 'Oh, I've managed three deadlines today, only two more to go...'

They could not understand why I was not a nervous wreck with stress!

Mind, some of those 'small' jobs were a challenge too... but in a different way.

Precisely. It's one more milestone achieved.

However some translations - fortunately not so many - make me feel relieved when I'm through.

Relieved Feb 23, 2014

I said "relieved" because I mostly do long jobs. Like others, when it's a short job, I just soldier on.

Definitely confident... Feb 23, 2014

Getting a Job done doesn't only make me feel confident.
İt's like i am proud of myself being productive and disciplined.
Getting a job done means you are reliable which is important to me.
İ want the customer to know, that i get things done, that i am accurate

OTHER Feb 23, 2014

Very long and difficult translation: relieved
normal translations: ready to start the new one
End of the month: ready to issue invoices and ready to take a day off where I can have some time for myself.

Confident? always, not because I am the best, but because I would never send a translation without being confident and satisfied!

It depends on the job.

If it is a "normal" job, I think "Next"".

If it is a large project, or a difficult translation, I feel relieved.
