7 days traveling abroad with my wife and kids - proper holiday.

I had one proper week off in January as Christmas time was very tough. I am going on holiday in May but will take my laptop with me.

... the money to go on holiday? After rent to the landlord and taxes to the Italian government, what's left has to go for food. Holidays in my next life, I'm afraid.

My ideal working year involves taking the whole of July and August out (if you are familiar with the weather in Cyprus at that time of year, you will understand why) and working flat out for the rest of the year to make up for it. This year started out very quiet, though, although I have been snowed under with work this month so far, so we will see. The more work I have between now and the summer, the longer my summer break will be. At the very least, I will take most of August out.

I have someone coming to stay with me for a few weeks in June - that's their holiday, not mine! After that, I'll play it by ear, as usual. I expect Agust will be quiet workwise so I may take some time away to myself then.

I tend not to take summer holidays although I may be forced to leave for a week in August. My district has a big festa and the main stage happens to be almost outside my window. The noise is deafening. Seven days of fun or of hell, depending on which way you look at it.
Last year I took a holiday in November but went to Argentina as the temperature was rising instead of falling.

In my part of the woods, the seasons are not so much determined by the temperature as by the dry/wet seasons. It rains cats and dogs during the summer here, so it is best to take a holiday during the early spring, late fall or winter, when it is dry, unless you go abroad.
