The day or two before public holidays tend to get busy here. For example, I had "urgent" requests from 2 clients for same-day delivery last Thursday...

I have noticed that the last week of the month tends to be busier, but there is no particular day of the week busier than the others for me.

Monday is always my busiest day. In terms of business communication, to be more precise. Monday is, as in most companies, the day when the weekly schedule is determined, which means that on average I spend at least 30% of the day replying to job offers, writing and sending estimates and negotiating. Do I get any productive work done on Mondays? Hardly.
When I have to set up a timetable for a project, I can never count in Mondays as a full workday for translating.

I voted that it varies, but on second thought I realize that tends to be worse because everyone wants their work by Friday, so they can start working on it first thing Monday. Also, one of my clients hires proofreaders over the weekend and expects a wave of translations coming in on Friday.
I'd say that Monday is my *least* busiest day.
But it does vary. Anything can happen.

Perhaps in the USA, Nicole.
Here, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, depending on DST in either hemisphere, I am at least one, and at most six hours ahead of the continental USA, so I figure they spend Monday discussing the assignment of translation projects. Requests of all kinds (jobs, estimates) start swarming in on Tuesdays at about 11 AM.
Fridays are the domestic peak, when people in Brazil realize all the translation jobs they should have assigned during the week, but didn't, so they all need everything for the next Monday.
My take is that nobody spends the weekend mulling over their translation needs, so I can safely do computer maintenance on Monday mornings.

but i find that i get most of my requests on tuesday, wednesday or thursday. Friday is almost always very quiet and i usually have fridays off! Last week was unusual in that I got a request thursday night for a job due tuesday AM. But i rarely get requests on friday.

So "It varies."
However, I wonder what percentage of pollsters get inquiries for work late Friday afternoon that has to be delivered by first thing Monday morning.
This is one pattern I can say with confidence that is pretty common with the majority of LSPs and translation agencies. Grrrrr

I have so many regular deliveries on mondays, so it's out of bed before the birds start singing to have a final check on them before I send them off. And then comes requests, offers, tenders and all the other business stuff. It really is a good way to start the week, because I can sum up what I've made so far, and figure out how much more I need to work that week to make a proper living. This really works for me.
