If I have had a problem, I have always found a way around it, even if delivery has been a little late.

not yet. I have had software issues in the past (which could be resolved), but I have 2 computers as a backup for just in case.

Not yet, fingers crossed, although I have come close a couple of times. One of my tasks for 2015 is to be better prepared for emergencies.

I would be ashamed!! I always have had a spare computer, even when I could not afford it.
But it happens that I deliver the TM the next day after having checked some points, especially for pollution with other segments.

Not as far as I can recall. I have occasionally had software issues, but I usually manage to finish all my jobs one way or the other. I have 2 PCs and 2 laptops primed and ready, so if one conks out I can keep working on one of the others.
Last week, for example, I had relicensing issues with one SW I use, which took a couple of days to sort out, but I managed to keep working without it anyway...

I've had varying degrees of problems with a certain unrivalled solution but so far they were also solved in due time and all jobs delivered.

Every close shave was due to Trados Studio doing unexpected things that left me potentially in big trouble. Thank goodness, every issue I have encountered so far has previously been met and resolved by others who have then been kind enough to document it somewhere on the web.

I always was lucky for I've got several PC's and notebooks, but not long ago in the times of 'better and more democratic' power outage in the city once drained my UPS and made me translate a rush job in one notebook, continue in another, then use my netbooks, and--finally--a tablet and iPad. Just in time!
Later I bought extra enhanced batteries and was quite happy, until I drove to my garage nearby and found out there was power even when our city block was cut...

What? Not a software issue? Notebook 1 - Windows 7 x64, Notebook 2 - Windows 8.1 x32, Netbook 1 - Ubuntu, Netbook 2 - Windows XP, Tablet 1 - Windows 7, Tablet 2 - Android 4.2 and iPad mini 3.

Me too! I've sometimes found answers on the web, other times they've been provided very rapidly in forums, on Proz and elsewhere. Huge thanks to those lifesavers out there who are ready with the answers when we really, really need them!

The only serious problem (a full computer crash) I had was a good few years back and fortunately between jobs... As others have said, I have one PC and one notebook as back ups.

Having one, two, or a dozen spare computers won't overcome the endless MS Office glitches. AFAIK no other piece of software in the market lasting more than a few months malfunctions so often.
My prevention measures comprise using the oldest version of Microsoft products still compatible with current demand. Right now, I'm still using Office 2007 under Windows XP, and it works pretty well, since they had plenty of time to fix the worst bugs.

My wife has a new notebook, which came with factory-installed Windows 8.1 and the state-of-the-art Office included. It crashed badly during the first week of use. I uninstalled it, put Office 2007 there, and ever since she hasn't had problems with Office. Windows 8.1 contains a truckload of bugs, some get fixed by frequent updates, yet most still remain there, and crash relatively often.
My Windows XP hasn't crashed for years in a row. Mostly for video work, I have plenty of freeware, shareware, and cheapware. I have been using some of these programs performing for years, without a single complaint. (When they don't work, I uninstall, delete, and forget them pronto.)
As computer guys used to say a while ago, "IBM is a software company with marketing problems, while Microsoft is a marketing company having software troubles." ▲ Collapse
