I have a website, but I'm not sure I'm quite ready to insert "professional" between "a" and "website" yet. There's a lot I want to add to spiffy it up first, but I don't have the time/expertise. Might have to hire someone to do all the heavy lifting someday.

Depends what you mean by professional. I did my own (https://instantenglish.dk using Serif WebPlus, which I found very easy to use and enabled me to put a few gizmos on it. So it looks OK, I think.
But I'm not sure what use it is in terms of getting me business. Most of that seems to come by networking/word of mouth nowadays. I guess it gives me an extra profile and presence. Now I just give them the link to the corresponding page, and offer to add any other info they need and can't find there.
It should be mentioned that I still know NOTHING about HTML, PHP, Javascript, whatever. I only work on content, using WebSiteX5 to do it and, quite honestly, I don't think I use as much as 10% of the resources it offers.
I'd also like to add that I have spent nothing on SEO. It takes a long time, but having USEFUL content will drive a web site up on search engine rankings. ▲ Collapse

It is not that I get great number of offers through it, bit it is very convenient to direct potential clients to the site in order to give them more information about my education and work in general.
