That's quite a long list of possible replies but I think the most important option is missing: I don't. I would expect that most people don't deal/don't know how to deal with work-related stress. Luckily, I don't get stressed easily but when I do, I probably muddle through and once it's over I recover by going for a walk or having a nap. By the way, I quite like the option "A combination of these" which I take to mean "Whatever. Next question, please". | | | A combination | Mar 16, 2017 |
Walking, reading, eating(!), gardening, online shopping(!), online games., TV I prefer short interruptions. I also have a chi-machine, which relaxes me completely. I've used it regularly for over 20 years. | | | Ricki Farn Alemanha Local time: 23:50 inglês para alemão Gardening, and walking around talking to the squirrels | Mar 16, 2017 |

Reading and Other | Mar 16, 2017 |
Reading is my favorite non-work and non-family related activity. Other: a glass of red wine.
Over the years, I’ve learned to say no (and be very picky with what I accept) and to be very organized (work-wise), as a result I don’t get stressed very easily. Keep calm is my motto. As Don Quixote said: “There is a remedy for everything but death”... | | | A combination of several options | Mar 16, 2017 |
And I have become better to say no, especially to clients with ridiculously long payment terms and/or extensive instruction materials. | | | Christine Andersen Dinamarca Local time: 23:50 Membro (2003) dinamarquês para inglês + ...
Cut the problem down to size and deal with it. It is not always easy, but it is basically simple. I ask myself what I am getting so worked up about. Then, if possible, I shift the problem at least partly to the client, or the Trados hotline, or someone else who can help. I learned in an earlier job to shut out issues I can't do anything about, like jobs I have to turn down because I don't have time... Can't meet the deadline - write a mail to the client AT ONCE an... I learned in an earlier job to shut out issues I can't do anything about, like jobs I have to turn down because I don't have time... Can't meet the deadline - write a mail to the client AT ONCE and explain why, suggesting when I can deliver and a solution if possible. Etc. Family and friends on the phone ... This is difficult, but if it is not an emergency, I say firmly 'I have a deadline, so can I call you back?' And then put down the receiver. I say the Serenity Prayer: God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, And wisdom to know the difference. Then I make a cup of coffee and get to work. (Or else I take my migraine medication and go to bed!) ▲ Collapse

Why isn't "Sex, drugs 'n rock 'n roll" one of the opiates, woops, options? | | | Nadja Balogh Alemanha Local time: 23:50 Membro (2007) japonês para alemão + ... A combination - except for writing | Mar 16, 2017 |
I found that translating has seriously decreased my desire to write - it's a combination of not wanting to be in front of the PC even longer and my brain refusing to deal with any more words than it already does. is bad time management. If I have a lot to do then I work on it until it is finished. I do sport everyday, but that is because I want to get fit and lose weight. On top of that, I have children and they cause more stress than my work.

I rant. I tell my boyfriend all about it (then I complain that he doesn't listen to me once he becomes glassy-eyed) or I tell my mother when she calls me. Sharing is caring... right? | | | A combination... and especially dancing! | Mar 16, 2017 |
