I rely on my flair for cultural sensitivity. I read a lot in English, my "cultural sensitivity radar" is always alert.
I've often pointed out to clients that "no you can't put that, there are English-speaking people who will freak out at that".

As for translations, any culturally-sensitive translation in my language pair is paid really bad, so I don’t do them. And I usually do B2B translations, cultural sensitivty is higher in B2C contexts (unfortunately paid really bad), typical in fashion, make-up, household products. I only worked in these (cosmetics) as an interpreter, but it was also B2B (cosmetic brand representative from France and a bunch of local beauticians who own salons). They even asked me if I were a beautican, it seems my interpretation was very convincing then.
