There are no stupid questions... May 16, 2025

...but there are exceptions.

Proz continues to squander the goodwill of its members by misusing the poll feature. Of late, poll questions are beating that AI dead horse to second death or are inane, irrelevant or poorly framed.

Today's poll question takes the cake because it manages to be all of that. Prove to us that you can do better, Proz!

Poll May 16, 2025

This question is so badly formulated that it can't even be AI. What an achievement.

I think May 16, 2025

that I understand the question - and why it was asked.
Will see in few months time if my guess was right about the apparent nonsense possibly making sense after all.

Proz news May 16, 2025

I think this question might be related with the last Proz News post > The Imperative of Accessibility in Multimedia Localization.

And it could be AI playing again, because I didn't have the chance to vote, but the poll says, “You have voted on this poll.”

That word salad beats its inventor! Boy, oh boy, how many scoundrels and pseudo "thinkers" made obscene money on all that nonsense. They sure know how to catch the wave.

Shucks :( May 17, 2025

It is disappointing, to say the very least, to see that numerous contributors to this thread have failed (apparently...) to make the connection between the poll question's reference to localization for the benefit of 'audiences with different abilities' and services that are offered here on Proz by a number of colleagues, such as audio description (AD) for the blind and partially-sighted, and subtitling for the deaf and hard-of-hearing (SDH).

I’m afraid both of these services are severely taken by AI, especially subtitling. But even human voice generators (text to speech), have been extensively trained.

I think people reacted because of the way the question is worded. Can we get a link/evidence this is true? Most socials have accessibility features, I know for sure Apple devices have plenty of them that can be projected and used on socials.
