I don’t know how many as I haven’t counted them. Anyway, I do volunteer work much less now than I used to (I haven’t been asked), mostly for some development NGOs active in the former African Portuguese colonies.

3 weeks ago I, as a solo tourist, was bundled with a few more people for Chobe river and park safari tour, and they just happened to be a single group from Russia (no, nobody was corraling Russians plus I was listed as an American with the tour company ). I enjoyed their company, didn't mind to go back to work and gladly volunteered to interpret some exchanges, rangers' explanations and a 15-min video presentation about elephant... See more

I enjoyed their company, didn't mind to go back to work and gladly volunteered to interpret some exchanges, rangers' explanations and a 15-min video presentation about elephant rehab, where we could feed and touch those magnificent animals, and later had African bush braai under the starry African skies.

On a side note - what a land of incredible beauty and might! South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia... Still feels like a fairy tale. I'll be back! ▲ Collapse

They were for the environmental and journalistic fields. I thought they were less, but just checked! yay!
