I loved the article. I have read so many horrible translations that now I try to get the books in its original language, within the languages I know of course, because its the only way of really "feel" the author and all the subtleties of the text. Its a sad thing but its rare to find a good translation and things are so bad that I usually don't need to read the original to know when a translation is bad because most of the times its very obvious. Therefore I wish more translators had in mind the things that this article describes and explains so very well. I think most people think that its enough to know the languages to make a good translation but what they don't take into account is the responsability they have towards the reader of correctly translate not only the words but the subjacent meanings and feelings so that they can be experienced by the reader as if the reader was reading the original.Collapse
