Counting word in html files

Could anyone tell me if the word count function in Trados, Practicount, Catscradel, etc., counts repeat text in html files only once?

If you have a web page with a series of html files, you will often find text, such as menues, that appears in several of the html files. I was wondering if the word count function in the above mentioned programs counts words "intelligently" or not.

Use a conversion tool Sep 12, 2003

There are several tools like
http://www.bobsoft.com/html2txt/
that convert HTML to text.
Then it's fairly easy to count the words.

If you use a Unix-type command shell
you can often do
$ cat YOUR_HTML_FILE.html |html2txt|wc
