Agreed! I've always heard a stereotype that food in the UK is nothing to be desired. We made a port call there once when I was deployed, and I found British cuisine *to die for.* For such "bad cuisine," every meal at every restaurant we went to seemed to have been done just right! | | | Tom in London United Kingdom Local time: 09:03 Member (2008) Italian to English

However, the upside of travel restrictions is that they have also prevented Keira Knightley from pestering me to work with my PC perched on her bare bottom as she files her nails and goes through her lines for the next gig. She's so clingy, that girl. Sadly it wasn’t HP on Keira’s bottom but Adele on Delhi’s belly. (Trying to be too clever there. Go to the back of the class.) I no longer remember why it wasn’t the gents’. While it might have been something mundane like cleaning operations in progress, I prefer to think it was something more profound like striking a blow for a non-binary society and world peace.

Oh, don't. Please don't. The image of Miss K with HP all over is too overwhelming. A bacon butty.

It started regularly, and kept the standard until April. As of May, the volume started reducing, until in July I had almost nothing to do. August was the worst month (in terms of income) in my professional history. In August, the curve started rising again. But from September to December, it grew so much the earlier losses were compensated and well exceeded. Overall, I still had a little growth both in volume and income, against 2019. What we're going through now is a bit worse because we are coming from 13 years of the worst government in our history, moving into the second worst for another 4 years. I think there is huge pent-up demand in some areas, and provided that there are signs of coronavirus being brought under control we should see a surge of orders later in the year. Dan

All in all it was a pretty good year as I managed to land a good client with regular work, good rates and good working conditions, which is rare. But after nine month an issue occured where a project got published in its "raw translation" form (even though there's always a corrector checking the translations) and made me lose the job. Not so great, but I was able to save a hefty sum nonetheless, so... we will see what 2021 has in store. | | | Pages in topic: < [1 2 3 4] | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: How was your 2020?
